There may be advantages for making after-tax contributions to your spouse's superannuation account.
If your spouse has an assessable income plus reportable fringe benefits of less than $10,800 per annum, you might be eligible to receive a tax offset of up to $540, for the first $3,000 of spouse contributions made each year. A partial tax offset may be received for these contributions as long as your spouse's income does not exceed $13,800.
Please refer to QSuper for more information.
