Board of Directors
Q Invest has a nationally respected Board of Directors that oversees the affairs of Q Invest and set the framework for the organisation's long-term success.
They assume overall responsibility for corporate governance and have established systems to monitor compliance with policies, relevant legislation and standards of ethical behaviour.
Dale Hennessy, Chairman
Dale has been a director of Q Invest since its inception in 1994 and is now the independent Chairman. Dale retired as the Executive Director of the Government Superannuation Office in Queensland in July 1997 after 28 years in the superannuation industry.
Dr Douglas McTaggart B Econ (Hons) MA PhD FAICD FAIM
Doug joined the Q Invest Board in 2001 and has extensive experience in consulting and academic positions. Prior to joining QIC in August 1998 as its Chief Executive, Doug was Under Treasurer and Under Secretary, Queensland Treasury and in that position served as a director of QIC.
Doug received First Class Honours in economics from the Australian National University, following which he undertook graduate studies at the University of Chicago.
Doug is a Councillor of the National Competition Council, a member of the COAG Reform Council, a Director of the Committee for the Economic Development of Australia ("CEDA") and President of CEDA's State Council. He is also a former council member of QUT, past Chairman of the Investment and Financial Services Association and a director of a number of QIC subsidiary companies.
Rosemary Vilgan B Bus, F.ASFA FAICD
Rosemary Vilgan is the Chief Executive Officer of QSuper, and the Government Superannuation Officer. In these roles, Rosemary oversees the Queensland Government's superannuation program involving assets in excess of $40 billion.
Rosemary has received various community and academic awards and was named as one of Australia's most influential fund executives in 2001 and 2002.
In 2008, Rosemary was appointed to the Federal Government’s Superannuation Advisory Committee, and to the Federal Treasurer’s Financial Sector Advisory Council.
Rosemary is a Director of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) and Deputy Chancellor of Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
Kenneth MacDonald BA (Hons) LL.B (Hons) FAICD
Ken was for many years a partner in Allens Arthur Robinson and its predecessor firms, was the firm's Queensland practice director until 2007 and is currently a consultant. Ken is also an experienced company director, and joined the Q Invest Board in 2001.
Ken is the Deputy Chairman of QIC, the Chairman of Highlands Pacific Limited and a director of the RiverCity Motorway Group. He is also a director of QIC Private Capital Pty Ltd and QIC Retail Pty Ltd.
Stephen R Ryan
Steve is the president of the Queensland Teachers Union. He joined the Q Invest Board in 1997 and was a secondary mathematics teacher, having taught at a number of Queensland schools since 1972.
Steve is a QSuper Trustee and a director of QSuper Limited. He is an executive member of the Queensland Council of Unions, an executive member of the Australian Education Union and a Board member of the Queensland Studies Authority.
Patrick Cunningham
Pat was appointed Director of Q Invest in February 2005. He has had over 30 years experience in the financial markets, financial services, and fund management industries. He was previously employed by BT Australia Limited for a period of 15 years, the last five of these as Queensland State Manager. Currently he conducts his own consultancy business within the financial services sector.
